Bet On Sports Snubs Court Hearing
Bet On Sports, British online gambling company, snubbed the ongoing court hearing by not sending any official representatives to the hearing on July 31st, 2006 in St Louis, Missouri.
A Federal court hearing on racketeering and fraud charges took place today on St. Louis and no one appeared on behalf of Bet On Sports.
Keith Smith, spokesman for Bet On Sports, said that as of Friday, the company was not served with any legal papers.
The U.S authorities are examining further legal moves against the company for its non appearance in court.
Prosecutors said that legal paper works were legally served to Bet On Sports, including the papers given to Bet On Sports former CEO David Carruthers.
Carruthers was also not present at the hearing as he was transported from St. Louis to Dallas for his arraignment later in the day.
Other defendants have entered a not guilty plea which includes the DME Global Marketing and Fulfillment Inc.
DME Global and Fulfillment Inc. was charged of providing promotion and advertising services and assisting customer sign up.
Two other companies charged, Direct Mail Expertise Inc. and Mobil Promotions Inc, did not enter pleas as they have gone out of business.
Bet On Sports officials and executives were charged with a twenty two count indictment that alleges that the British company had illegally taken bets from U.S residents.
